Bantry Bay Apartment

This well-appointed apartment, with historic value, generous proportions, and set in one of Cape Town’s best enclaves, provided a wealth of inspiration for the project’s new interiors. Perched on a cliff seemingly floating above the ever-popular Saunders Rock Beach, with its array of colourful beach umbrellas and endless ocean views, the setting became the drawcard for our colour palette selection. The apartment’s bones were already clean and fresh, with layers of sophisticated white on white, bright walls, glossy joinery, and crisp white marble forming the foundation we worked with. Warmth and depth were brought in with timber, textiles, soft sheer drapery, and a mix of metallics. Bleached oak flooring, fine sisal and grass rugs, as well as natural pale cow hides, adorn the floors. This classic and pared-back backbone was the perfect canvas to punctuate with some colour, drawing the vibrant Cape Town seaside experience indoors. Blues, yellows, greens, and a hint of tangerine were the drawcard here, forming a common thread woven throughout the space and injecting a sense of relaxation and fun without being overbearing. The master bedroom took an unexpected seaside-inspired twist with the introduction of a soft, romantic coral and blush colour palette. Elements of rich chocolate brown were added here to ground the space. The space is a true celebration of its surroundings.
